But we weren't just sitting around. We have been making masks, masks and more masks!
In the beginning the need for masks in hospitals, nursing homes etc was greatest. In many cases the masks were being reserved for emergency room staff and in many hospitals, staff on other units had to make due. So, quilters to the rescue! We have fabric, we have skills and with quarantine, we certainly have time!
And now that the state is opening up and requiring masks in most public places everyone else needs us too!
So here are photos and stories about our mask making!
Linda has made 5 masks for her family, here are photos of her masks on her special model!
Marianne has made abotu 30
Here's a sampling of her creations
Donna made 130 regular masks, they went to family and friends, Burgess Square
Healthcare & Rehab Centre in Westmont, DuPage Pads for the homeless, andsome physical therapists who worked out of Edward Hospital in Naperville and
were reassigned to do Covid testing at the hospital.
Unfortunately she lost her mask photos, but she also made clear front masks for a hearing aid distributor who's clients need to lip read, and some scrub hats and headbands used to help keep mask straps away from ears.
